Garden Explorers: A Sensory Discovery Program for
5-8 Year-Olds

Experience nature at the Garden with children with our newest program, Garden Explorers. These classes are a great way for kids and their parents or caregivers to spend time together while discovering more about nature at the Botanical Garden. Each class will have an activity with an item to take home. Classes are designed for children ages 5 to 8 and an adult. Preregistration is required and class size is limited to 10 children in each class. Deadline for registration is one week before the class or session.

In 2017 we will offer four Garden Explorer sessions on Wednesday evenings from 5:30-7 p.m. You can register for one, two, three, or all four classes.

Each class will focus on using a different sense in the garden:

June 28 - Touch:¬† Have you ever wondered what a Lamb’s Ear feels like? You might be in for a surprise! Make new sensory discoveries together with your child.

July 12 - Scent: Being in the garden is an exciting time to explore your sense of smell. From roses to our lesser known aromas, your nose will be delighted. You will enjoy sharing this aromatic journey with your child.

July 26 - Sight: Unleash your sense of wonder through your sense of sight. We rely on our sense of sight the most, but what do we really see? Marvel at everyday sights by looking at the garden in a new and fun way.

August 2 - Sound: Listen to the garden come alive with the lovely and sometimes rhythmic chorus of nature. Hoot, ribbit, chirp! Search out these chatter-boxes and uncover their connection to the garden.

Cost:

BBGS Members: Each class is $14 per child. Each additional child is $8.
