Botanical Drawing: Leaves and Berries

Learn how to use colored pencils to portray plant subjects! Colored pencils are fun and are a forgiving medium to learn, and autumn offers amazing colors and textures to observe and to use in creating beautiful botanical art. In this 4-week class, you will learn a variety of colored pencil techniques including layering, blending, and building saturation with luminosity, with a focus on vibrant colors and textures of autumnal subjects such as leaves, fruits and winter berries. You will also learn the observation techniques and elements of botanical illustration. Crystal will share how to observe colors within subjects and her methods for building under colors and multiple layers to obtain rich and luminous surface hue and texture.
In the first class, you will be introduced to the basics of colored pencils, and in the second week you will learn how to draw autumn leaves. In the third week, you will practice how to do autumn fruits. In the fourth week, you will learn how to illustrate winter berries such as holly, that could turn into a holiday card for your loved ones. All levels are welcome.
This is a series of 4 classes, Thursday, Oct 29, Nov 5, 12, 19, 6:30-8:30pm. This class will take place as a Zoom meeting and we will send you the join link and supply list after we process your registration. $130 BBGS members/$150 nonmembers.
