Chado demonstration and Chabana exhibition

Jun 13 at 11:00 am - 3:00 pm
Free

Join us for a captivating journey into the world of Japanese traditional Chado, the Way of Tea, also known as the Japanese Tea Ceremony!  This event is made possible by the collaboration with Chado Urasenke Tankokai Seattle Association, the member organization of Urasenke Chado headquartered in Kyoto, Japan.

What to expect:

  • Chado demonstration: Immerse yourself in the art of Chado. Our tea practitioners will showcase the intricate rituals, graceful movements, and serene ambiance that define this tradition. Learn about the harmony between host, guest, and tea. We will have the tea ceremony demonstration at 11am, 12pm, 1pm, and 2pm. The first 30 guests for each demonstration will receive Matcha tea and sweets.
  • Chabana exhibition: Discover the beauty of Chabana, the art of arranging flowers for tea ceremonies. Delicate blooms, carefully selected branches, and vessels come together to create the serene beauty and nature blended in the tea ceremonies.

This event is open to all, whether you are a tea lover or simply curious about Japanese traditions. Explore the beautiful surroundings of Bellevue Botanical Garden while savoring the essence of Chado and Chabana. No prior knowledge of tea ceremony required.

Free and open to the public. Registration not required.
