Miller & Dunn Gardens Tour
Jun 22 at 10:00 am - 1:00 pm
EVENT FULL
Join us for a private tour of the incredible Miller Garden and Dunn Gardens in Shoreline!
First, we will meet (carpooling is encouraged) at the spectacular Elisabeth C. Miller Botanical Garden (millergarden.org), an exceptional three-acre garden perched on the bluffs overlooking Puget Sound and the Olympic Mountains. It is the former home and garden of Elisabeth and Pendleton Miller and was donated to the horticultural community. Travels to Japan and China influenced the initial plant selection and design of the garden, combined with an appreciation for the native Western North American flora.
Then we will self-drive a short distance to the Dunn Garden (dunngardens.org), where we will have a snack and beverages followed by a private tour. Arthur G. Dunn Sr. bought the property in 1914 as a summer get-away for his family and contracted the landscaping to the Olmsted Brothers, known as the designers of New York City’s Central Park. A trust was created after Dunn’s death to oversee the seven-and-a-half-acre property. Dunn Gardens is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, and is open for specific public events and tours at specified times of the year. $65 per person, member or nonmember. There is a limit of two tickets per person.
