Peonies

With their exquisite blooms, easy upkeep, and long lives, peonies are the crown jewels of the spring garden. Kit Haesloop will provide an overview of peonies, including how to care for them to ensure maximum blooms and disease prevention, and how to have several months of blooms by overlapping peony types. Kit will also demonstrate how to plant and divide peonies and help you understand why yours stopped blooming or never bloomed. $5 BBGS & NPA members/$15 non-members.

Hydrangea How-To

Hydrangeas are an excellent shrub for year-round interest with a long bloom season. Kit Haesloop will describe the distinguishing characteristics between species and give you a colorful overview of the incredible choices available. She will describe proper garden location, as well as care and maintenance to keep your hydrangeas blooming beautifully. She will touch on pruning, but for in-depth pruning techniques, please also register for her class, “Pruning Hydrangeas,” on March 10.

Do you wonder why your hydrangeas don’t bloom or bloom poorly? Perhaps you want direction on when and how to prune your various hydrangeas. Kit Haesloop will describe and show detailed techniques and timing for pruning hydrangeas. She will cover pruning for blooms and health as well as how best to rejuvenate neglected plants. She will also demonstrate pruning on several species of hydrangeas. $5 BBGS & NPA members/$15 nonmembers.
